4:00pm-4:15pm, Blockchain Evolution with Jeffrey Westcott from Cloud Security Alliance.
The Blockchain is a platform built originally for the Bitcoin crypto-currency utilizing a decentralized (i.e., peer-to-peer) network. This creates a transparent public hyperledger, an immutable record of data that enables a layer of trust that has traditionally been centralized, costly and inefficient. Due to its unique features, the blockchain has spawned interest in many industries, including financial services, healthcare, legal, governmental, recording/arts and supply chain manufacturing. There is much interest in start-ups and corporations to harness its potential and numerous consortiums have been established to create a framework of uniform protocols to promote adoption and standardization across many industries it will serve.

Information technology can be entirely bewildering, impossible to manage or even to understand. New initiatives seem to go quickly off the rails, and it can be easy to forget the objectives for projects in the shuffle. User Experience Design, or “”UX””, can help bridge the gap between management and developers, so that stakeholders in a system can rest assured that the system they need is indeed the system that is being implemented. This is useful, not just for customer-facing sites and apps, but for internal systems as well. UX driven IT initiatives have a significantly higher ROI than other projects. We’ll take a look at what UX is, and how it brings success to organizations that prioritize it.
